Abraham, then called Abram (see Gen 17:4), hears from the Lord a life-altering call:

"Now the LORD said to Abram, "Go from your country and your kindred and your father’s house to the land that I will show you. And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed."

So Abram went, as the LORD had told him, and Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he departed from Haran."

In this passage, Abram is called by God to first “go” from the things that he’s held dear and comfortable to a place that he knows nothing about. God then promises that when Abram does this, he will receive magnificent blessing and his name will be great. But the purpose of God’s blessing isn’t so that Abram has the incentive to go out of his comfort zone and do His will. God’s purpose is to give Abram what he needs so he can do for what God’s set out for him to do. God says He’s going to bless Abram through this so that he can be a blessing. That’s it. That’s the reason.

Each year our group makes a decision on where we should go and serve and what we will do on a short term mission trip. We pray that we will see God in some magnificent ways and that we will have an experience that will unify our group. However, we know that above all, God’s set out a specific plan for us, and so we pray we’ll simply be equipped to bless others.

Please take the time to update yourself on our journey and keep in touch with the process that we’re going through. We covet any support that you can offer, especially your prayers.

Thanks for reading.

By His Grace,

Andy Hodges
LCM Director

2010-2011

Hello,

This year's group of Leadership in Camp Ministry students and I are planning our mission trip and we'd love for you to keep up to date on how the Lord is working through our preparations. Look to this site to see updates on how things are going with our trip and stay updated with our Canada specific blog by clicking on the link to the right. Also, notice previous year’s trips information below.

Here’s what we’re doing this year:

This year's we will be in Manitoba during the first two weeks of December. While we’re there, we will be spending most of our time at the Eagle Bay Ministry Center and Camp in Hilbre. This camp serves youth in the center of the province of Manitoba. Because of their geographic location, the majority of campers who attend are First Nations youth (80-85%) from the surrounding reserves. Every summer and winter, the staff at Eagle Bay make it their goal to provide the youth they serve with sound Biblical teaching while also presenting them with what it means to live their lives for Christ.

So we’re excited about working with different cultures in a very different setting than we’re used to. During our stay at the camp, we will help to facilitate two weekends of winter camp for the local youth. We’ll be doing everything from preaching and playing music to providing the food, cleaning, counseling, and crafts for the youth that attend each weekend. While we’re not working with youth, our desire is to be able to bless Eagle Bay in the restoration of their washroom facilities as well as heading up community outreach events.

We see some challenges that might present themselves throughout this experience. We need to raise enough money to pay for our time in country and to also be able to bless the camp with the resources they'll need. Also, let’s face it, Canada is cold. But it is our desire to advance the Gospel by relationally showing others who Christ is. Each one of us knows the impact that Christian camping can have on youth and we desire to be a part of that. So that’s why we’re going on the trip. Please offer any support you can and join us in praying that the Lord would enable us to fulfill this desire.

God Bless,

Andy Hodges
LCM Director

Fundraiser!

Hello,

After several hours of hard work, the LCM missions fundraiser was a success! Pies and bread from The Elegant Farmer, a local and very well known company, were sold door-to-door over the past couple of weeks. Several people purchased a product, and many others gave a donation. The total profit received from this endeavor is just a few dollars shy of $700. We're excited that the Lord blessed in this way! What was really neat about this fundraiser was that the news of Timber-lee's quality program made its way to the surrounding community, and I had the opportunity to share my faith with several people from the area. We are all very excited about this, and are looking for ways to increase that number even more. Currently we are in the midst of a fundraiser with the help of a local, well known company called "The Elegant Farmer". In November this business was featured on the Food Channel Network for it's famous pie, the "Apple Pie Baked in a Paper Bag." The LCMs are on a mission to sell as many pies and loaves of bread from The Elegant Farmer as possible in the next two weeks. Please keep us in your prayers. In just 2 days we have raised nearly $300!

What's even better than participating in the fundraiser is the opportunity I have had to share my faith with our fundraiser customers. It's been great to tell people about the trip, and to answer any questions they have about Timber-lee.

We'll be selling for the next two weeks and we would appreciate your prayers during that time.

Thanks!

Bethany (for the team)

Support update

Many are probably wondering how the support raising process is going. I'm thrilled to tell you we're currently at $12,435!!! Praise the Lord! Thank you all so much for your generosity and your commitment to pray for the LCM missions teams. We still have more support we need to raise for the team going to Slovakia. If you have not yet given, please consider supporting us as we work to strengthen the ministry of Christian camping overseas.

Currently we're on Thanksgiving break, but shortly after we return we'll be sending the Romania team off. The planning details came together well and we're looking forward to seeing how the Lord will work in camp ministry in Romania! Please be in prayer for the team.
